Rally table decorations

I've made some table decorations for the rally.  Now I just have to find enough empty jars.

They look better in person.

Berger Cookies

Berger cookies are available only at certain supermarkets in Maryland and through mail order.  They are yellow cake cookies with about an inch of luscious chocolate frosting on top. Photos do not do them justice.

Mark and Josh and I went up to Lena's Deli in Waterbury, CT for cousin Leah and Steve's annual BBQ.  They make their own BBQ sauce - Outlaw BBQ - and sell it in stores and on line at www.5-0bbq.com.  They also do competitions.  Anyhow,  Leah was kind enough to bring the Berger Cookies from MD with her.

This is Josh, Cousin Steve, Cousin Leah and Mark after enjoying the BBQ.

Horrible weather...

We had some really bad weather yesterday.  We even made it onto the weather channel.

These are some photos of of the hail and the river that ran down our street.

It's always exciting to be part of a weather event:)

Wounded Warrior Basket Craft

At a flea market I saw a woman who was selling baskets to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.  She was nice enough to explain to me how she did it and I plan to try it when I get home and get the materials...

You take any basket and those decorated 2 ply paper napkins that can often be found in dollar stores.  Use Mod Podge to glue the napkin layers to the basket taking advantage of the weaving when you press the napkins to the basket.  Then put several layers of Mod Podge over the napkins to give the basket a nice gloss.

This is the basket I bought..

The colors are a little bit off- they are really beautiful autumn hues....

Bronx hat

Last Saturday night I had a creative impulse based on something I had seen at a happy hour earlier.  Someone had made a hat with BRONX across it in bling.  I didn't like the bling so this is my version of the Bronx hat...I am a Bronxite, of course.

Then I made one for my BFF using pink lettering...

I met Lana!

Today was an exciting day.  It's not every day that I meet someone who has become my friend over the internet.  But today I met - in person-  Lana and her husband Allen who I've come to know through my Magical Holiday Home forum.
We had a great - although all too brief- talk about crafts and life, etc.  It would be so great to meet ALL my internet friends.

This is me and my friend Lana.
